With focus on Panaji bypoll, Babush quits GFP

Former minister Atanasio Monserrate alias Babush Wednesday quit the Goa Forward Party (GFP) and also resigned as chairman of Greater Panaji Planning and Development Authority (GPPDA) to contest the Panaji bypoll.
Babush said that though he wishes to contest the bypoll as an Independent candidate, talks with Congress party are also on for its support to his candidature.
After resigning as primary member of GFP and chairman of GPPDA on Wednesday afternoon, Babush held a meeting with his supporter corporators of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) at his Taleigao office.
Speaking to the media, Babush said he has called his supporters on Thursday at 10 am at his office where he will formally announce his decision to contest the Panaji bypoll. “Along with my supporters, I will show my strength on Thursday. After gathering at my Taleigao office, the crowd of supporters will march towards Panaji,” he said.
