SC verdict used to attack devotees: Shah

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah did not hesitate from raising the Sabarimala issue in his campaign meeting at Thekkinkadu Maidan here on Tuesday as he sought to allege that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government used the Supreme Court verdict on women’s entry to the temple to unleash violence against devotees.
Alleging that Democratic Youth Federation of India cadre were sent in the guise of police to attack Ayyappa devotees, he said FIRs had been registered against 30,000 people. “There are so many Supreme Court verdicts. Why the LDF government acted swiftly only in the Sabarimala case. I am here to promise that the BJP will stand strong with the Sabarimala devotees,” he said.
“Our manifesto has clearly said that the BJP will convince the Supreme Court about the need for upholding the traditions of Sabarimala. The party will go to any extent to save the sanctity of Sabarimala,” he said.
