Fervour marks Thiru Kalyanam

Amid religious fervour, Thiru Kalyanam was performed in a grand manner at the Venkateswara temple of Rajam in Srikakulam district on Tuesday. Hundreds of devotees thronged the temple to witness celestial wedding, performed as part of the week-long Brahmotsavams that began on April 12. Seer China Jeeyar Swamy and other priests made elaborate arrangements for the event.
GMR Group Chairman G.M.Rao, founder of the temple, offered special prayers to the Lord. He said that the festival was being organised to seek blessings for Rajam as well as the State.
The temple constructed at Anthakapalli, near Rajam, is considered to be a replica of the Venkateswara temple at Tirumala.
Noted sculptor Sri Lakshmi Narayana Swamy of Kalahasti designed the temple and monitored its construction that took almost four years. The temple is now being called as ‘China Tirupati’ and around 12,000 devotees visit the temple every month. The devotees, who attended the ‘kalyanam,’ expressed satisfaction on the arrangements.
