The Narendra Modi wave would not have any impact in Hassan Lok Sabha constituency because of BJP’s choice of A. Manju as its candidate, former district BJP president H. Yogaramesh said on Saturday.
At a press conference here, Mr. Yogaramesh, who joined the Congress recently, said he quit the BJP because Mr. Manju joined that party. “I have joined the Congress opposing Mr. Manju’s entry into the BJP. Like me, hundreds of BJP leaders have been hurt”, he said. He alleged that Mr. Manju had done nothing for the district when he was Minister. People of Arkalgud defeated him when he was the Minister in-charge of the district, he said.
Congress leader B. Shivaramu, who was present at the press conference, said that Mr. Manju did not give attention to strengthen the party in the district when he was the Minister. His exit would not affect the party in any way. “BJP fielded Mr.Manju in Hassan as they had no other candidate”, he commented.
