The Congress has accused the Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Democratic Front of misusing the government machinery for the election campaign of the party candidate Veena George in Pathanamthitta. In a statement here on Thursday, District Congress Committee president Babu George alleged that the LDF was violating the poll code of conduct with the knowledge and support of the Chief Minister and Ms. George.
In a complaint filed before the District Collector who is also the District Electoral Officer here on Thursday, the DCC chief alleged that the LDF has been forcing the women attached to the Kudumbashree Mission and the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme to attend the ‘women’s parliament’ programme of the LDF poll campaign. The officials even threatened the women who refused to attend such poll campaign programmes, he alleged.
