Actor Sumalatha, wife of the late actor and former Minister M.H. Ambareesh, filed her nomination papers here on Wednesday, followed by a roadshow and a rally.
She filed her papers amidst cheer by a huge crowd of supporters — which included a section of members of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) and even the JD(S) and the Congress.
She was accompanied by Kannada actors Darshan, Yash, and Doddanna, and actor-producer Rockline Venkatesh. In an emotional speech at the rally, she launched an attack on the Janata Dal (Secular) for disparaging remarks against her.
