The Congress is likely to announce candidates for 22 Lok Sabha seats of the state in a couple of days, party officials said.
The Congress's screening committee met at New Delhi this evening and discussed names of candidates recommended by the party's state election committee comprising state Congress president Amit Chavda, leader of opposition Paresh Dhanani, in-charge of party's Gujarat affairs Rajeev Satav, and others. The Central Election Committee would finalise the candidates during its meeting on Wednesday.
"On more than half a dozen seats, the panel comprises names of just one candidate. It is likely that these names may be announced tomorrow itself, and those of the remaining 13-14 seats in the next 3-4 days," said a party source.
