On Day 1, Maloya housing complex residents pick holes, demand better amenities

Completed two years ago, the Maloya Housing Complex with 4,960 flats finally saw the light of day with Administrator V P Singh Badnore inaugurating it. However, here too Badnore left from the entrance leaving the stage free for MP Kirron Kher who happily handed over allotment letters to the beneficiaries. The administration had earlier been waiting for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the complex. Officials said Badnore was not feeling well.
“The day is dedicated to all the beneficiaries today,” said Kirron Kher, calling it an overwhelming initiative by the Chandigarh Administration towards making Chandigarh a slum-free city. However, Maloya Residents Welfare Association groused that the complex lacked basic facilities required by the residents even though its construction was completed two years ago.
