Internal differences surface in BJP Vijayapura unit

Just ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, differences between two BJP leaders — Union Minister Ramesh Jigajinagi and MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal — have come to the fore, with Mr. Yatnal recently taking to social media to show the Minister in poor light.
On Thursday, Mr. Yatnal posted a comment on his Facebook page asking where the Mr. Jigajinagi’s MP’s fund granted for local area development had gone?
Describing Makhanapur, the village selected by Mr. Jigajinagi under the ‘Model Village’ scheme, as the most backward village of Vijayapura district, Mr. Yatnal said it was “shameful” that no development had taken place during Mr. Jigajinagi’s tenure.
What prompted Mr. Yatnal to launch such a scathing attack against a party colleague was a remark by former MLA and his political bête noire Appu Pattanshetty. The latter said that Mr. Jigajinagi had executed more development works than his predecessors in the ministry. He was indirectly referring to Mr. Yatnal, who was Union Minister during the NDA’s rule earlier.
