Sikkim chief secretary reviews preparedness for Vice President’s visit

The chief secretary of Sikkim, AK Shrivastava, chaired a coordination meeting on Friday to review the progress of preparation for ensuing the two-day visit of the Vice President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu to Sikkim from February 25, 2019.
This was a follow-up of the meeting held under his chairmanship on February 11, when all departments concerned and central government agencies were assigned specific responsibilities.Addressing the meeting, the chief secretary expressed his satisfaction at the state of preparedness at every level.After taking a detailed stock of the action taken from the agenda points of the previous meeting, the Sikkim chief secretary reviewed the minute to minute programme of the Vice President.
Upon arrival in Sikkim on February 25, the Vice President will attend an official function at the National Research Centre for Orchids, Pakyong, where he will interact with the scientists.
Thereafter, he will attend lunch hosted by the Sikkm chief minister.This would be followed by a programme at Raj Bhawan where the Vice President will lay the foundation stone of Centre for Training and Demonstration for Bamboo and Sustainable Structures.
Shortly thereafter, the Vice President will launch Pranab Mukherjee’s chair for Sustainable Development of ICFAI University, which will also have the participation of visiting delegates from New Delhi.
The Governor and chief minister will call on the Vice President in the evening.
On February 26, the Vice President will attend the foundation stone laying program of office-cum-guest house of Rajya Sainik Board in the capital.He will wrap up his state visit with the official programme at Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences, Tadong.
The meeting discussed in detail the preparations in each of the four venues.the Sikkim chief secretary said this was the last meeting before the visit of the Vice President and urged all the heads of departments and agencies and Institutions involved to make the visit a success.
