Public money wasted: Speaker

Speaker K.R. Ramesh Kumar on Thursday expressed concern over public money going waste as the budget session of the State legislature was adjourned sine die without any debate following protests by the Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party.
“I am not blaming any particular political party as being responsible for this situation. But should we not have some concern when we are spending lakhs of rupees [on holding the legislature session]?” he said.
“We think 100 times before spending even ₹10 if it is from our pocket. But should we not have the same commitment when we are spending lakhs of rupees from the government? ... This money has come in the form of tax paid by those who work hard on streets,” he said.
The Speaker at one point got annoyed as BJP member M.P. Renukacharya repeatedly interfered and kept on insisting that the BJP was not responsible for stalling the legislature proceedings.
