AAP-Congres Alliance a Possibility, Hints West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee

he West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee indicated  that a pre-poll alliance between the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress may be on the cards.
Speaking at the Press Club of India on Thursday evening, she said that AAP wanted to ally with the Congress in Delhi for the upcoming general elections, and added that the grand-old party, too, was exploring the idea.
“Leaders of various parties met yesterday. I spoke to the AAP leaders, they want to ally with Congress. Now Congress is thinking whether it can do so or not,” Banerjee said.
Both AAP and Congress have had a bitter rivalry in Delhi. The initial rounds of talks between both the parties had failed – with the former Congress chief minister Sheila Dikshit stating there would be no such alliance. However, Congress president Rahul Gandhi, while speaking against the backdrop of an opposition rally on 13 February, signalled that a partnership between the two parties could not be ruled out at the moment.
