Alliance talks with friendly parties in progress, says BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is having discussions on an electoral tie-up with friendly parties in Tamil Nadu for the Lok Sabha polls, party national general secretary Muralidhar Rao said on Tuesday.
“The party (leadership) will declare soon our engagement and alliance,” he told journalists in the city.
When asked about the Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha M. Thambi Durai’s attack on the BJP-led NDA government in Parliament, Mr. Rao said the public response to the BJP in Tamil Nadu was growing.
“It shows Mr. Modi’s connect with people in Tamil Nadu is increasing and I am now not talking about any individual’s opinion. The AIADMK has not issued any statement. So I will not talk about it. Ultimately, I will look to leadership of AIADMK and all other parties.”
Replying to a question as to whether the attack by Mr. Thambi Durai would scuttle the alliance talks with the AIADMK, he said, “We don’t have any problem on engagement with any party.”
He later added, “It is a problem of the AIADMK and not my problem.” Mr. Rao was in Coimbatore to take part in ‘Bharat ke Mann ki Baat’, organised by the BJP with representatives of the textile industry.
The BJP is ready to form a formidable alliance in Puducherry for the Lok Sabha polls, party local unit president V. Saminathan said
