Rahul Gandhi to visit Gujarat on February 14 as Modi, Shah scramble to retain fortress

With the Opposition’s coordinated challenge mounting — even before the Election Commission puts out the schedule for General Election to the 17th Lok Sabha — the ruling BJP has chalked out a massive outreach programme to retain the BJP’s fortress of Gujarat, by virtually ‘carpet-bombing’ all 26 Parliamentary constituencies with poll-related meetings, material and high-voltage campaigns.
The Congress President, who is darting Modi with his Rafale salvos in the midst of the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament, will kick-start his party’s poll campaign in Gujarat on February 14 from Dharampur in Valsad district of South Gujarat. In his first campaign visit to the State, he will address a Jan Akrosh Rally in the tribal-dominated area, Gujarat Congress spokesman Manish Doshi, told. The Congress is aiming to woo back its traditional tribal voters in a State where the BJP had won all 26 LS seats in 2014.
