Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founder Kamal Haasan, known to Tamils for 60 years as an actor, will face a litmus test in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election. The new entrant to politics, who has been touring the State for the past one year, feels the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre has only been making noise, while the AIADMK government is rank inefficient. Excerpts from an interview:?
National politics is integral and indispensable for the good of the State. The MNM has been approached by political parties (for an alliance). We can’t compromise on policies. So, there is a constraint. Also, the MNM will not be compatible with some parties. We will take a call on a justifiable alliance at the right time, and it will be acceptable to people here. One thing is for sure — no one can ride piggyback on us.
