‘Will face election to win power if AIADMK regime collapses’

DMK president M.K. Stalin on Tuesday said he would prefer facing elections over making a ‘backdoor’ entry into power in the event of the collapse of the AIADMK government.
He was referring to the possibility of the collapse of the current regime in the event of the Supreme Court disqualifying Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam and 10 other ruling party MLAs who had defied the AIADMK whip in February 2017 to vote against the Edappadi K. Palaniswami-led government in the Assembly.
Addressing the DMK’s booth agents for the Manamadurai Assembly Constituency in Sivaganga, Mr. Stalin said that the survival of the AIADMK government, which was already a minority government, was hinging on the support of a few MLAs.
