The Assam Real Estate and Infrastructure Developers’ Association (AREIDA) has hailed the Interim Budget presented today by Finance Minister Piyush Goyal. AREIDA president PK Sharma said there are numerous provisions in the budget which directly and indirectly supports the real estate industry. “Section 80IBA extension by one more year upto 2020 will be a boost to affordable housing segment. Formal recognition in the budget to reduce GST burden on home buyers based on GoM recommendations is a matter of satisfaction for the real estate industry,” Sharma said in a press statement. Relieving second houses from income tax on notional rent and exempting second home investment from capital gains would revive the sluggish demand for housing, he added.
