Taking serious exception to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy’s recent statement that he was prepared to step down, former Minister and Congress leader A. Manju have alleged that the CM was blackmailing the Congress by issuing such statements.
Speaking to presspersons here on Wednesday, Mr. Manju said Mr. Kumaraswamy had occupied an honorable position with the support of MLAs from the JD(S) and the Congress. “Our party has supported him to be the CM to serve the people. But, now he is blackmailing the Congress by saying he was ready to resign,” he said.
Defending Congress legislators who praised former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in meetings, Mr. Manju said they had every right to praise their leaders.
