After the overwhelming victory of BJP in Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election earlier this year, BJP chose Yogi Adityanath to be the chief minister of the state. The move got a mixed reaction. Many criticised it while others appreciated it. One of the most highlighting comment was made by Chetan Bhagat who said when the naughtiest student of the class is made the monitor, he behaves the best. Now Yogi Adityanath is trying to abolish the fact that he was a naughty student of the UP Political Class as commented by Chetan Bhagat. Having an image of Extremist Hindu, Yogi Adityanath on several occasions gave hate speeches against a special religion. He was involved in Violence, riots, criminal intimidation etc. and several cases were filed against him. In 2007, Yogi announced a torchlight procession against the killing of a Hindu Youth even when he was ordered not to do so. Yogi was jailed for the act. Later, a journalist lodged an F.I.R. against him only after the interventions of High Court in 2008. He was accused of inciting the violence and delivering hate speeches. He was alleged to have asked the people to take revenge. In May 2017, soon after he was elected as the chief minister of the state, the government refused the sanction to prosecute him. In 2005, more than 5000 people were converted to Hinduism in Etah. Yogi Adityanath gave the statement that he will keep practicing this act of converting people until he makes India the Hindu Rashtra. In 1995, a case was registered against Yogi Adityanath for defying the prohibitory orders by holding a Public Meeting in Gorakhpur. Now, UP Cabinet has tabled a bill which will squash this 22 years old case against Yogi Adityanath and 20000 other cases against legislators, ministers, and others. Breaking laws and flouting the orders have been the traits of Yogi Adityanath. And irony now is that this man is making the laws as per his convenience. Yogi Adityanath was supposed to provide strict law and order to curtail crime. Now, he has proposed a bill which will bring an end to the criminal cases against 20000 legislators. What a way to bring down the statistics of crime. This is what we call the Abuse of Power.
