Is 'Media Neglect' a new threat for our democracy?

Now a days we are generally speaking up the words like intolerance, threat to democracy or demolition of constitution. Even in upcoming Lok Sabha Elections government is encountered on the basis of such issues. On social media platforms people are raising questions like “Is our country in safe hands?” or “Will next elections be affected by Pulwama Attack or Ram Mandir Verdict? ”
But by taking a pause can we really think about the maximum population of the country which is still more concerned about the resources for their crops, the pension which they are getting or the jobs they can get. But why are these concerns hidden ?? who is the one who serves the real issues on our table ?? N does it really affect us what we are served with the cup of tea on the morning table along with the tag of breaking news or recent issue? Actually it does. Whole game lies in the hands of media.
Because traditionally media is being used to serve us with what is happening in our surroundings or marketing the reality; so reliance on the morning news or media debates increases by default. But now values of modern media seems to be changed; as new media seems to be another mode of advertising. As consumers we need some burning issues and the platforms are serving them well with a divisive political tadka. Each of these are the means which business have capability to reach and rise with ease.
But while flourishing the business motives the real need of media is fallen behind and the new threat of “Media Negligence” came in existence. While accomplishing the Political Agendas our media is now lagging behind in their ethical duties. They are pouring up what they are told to be but not what they are supposed to. There is enough toxicity in the print newspaper or the live telecasts regarding the war on the borders or the religion based issues in the country but all this is engulping the real life issues.
In last days our news channels and papers were filled with the stress on borders, oppositions alliance against one single name, Hindu-Muslim division and much more but no one mentioned about the back to back rallies or protests which took place in Delhi.
The media who have been crying for the martyrs of CRPF personnels have bluntly ignored the rally organised by retired CRPF soldiers on 4th March 2019 at Jantar-Mantar demanding One Rank One Person. Our media was hitting hard to take revenge for the deaths but they didn’t even count the raising voice for the conventional things.
Not only this but while covering all the enrage and adding fuel into it they even ignored the notable protest against the 13 point roster; which is about employment and reservation which are one of the most involving issues of our country.
Next up is the “Garima Yatra” where women from 24 states and 200 cities took front and raised their voice against sexual assault openly and reached Delhi. They have travelled 65 days and have crossed 10,000 kms. To reach Delhi but were hardly appreciated by media. Hurling of flags and banners was ignored discourteously.
Such kind of media neglect is not only toxicating our minds but are leading us towards the dark end where we have been reaching far away from the reality. We are the ones who have created this and it is solely in our hands to save ourselves from the web of the planned and desired news. Because more than anything else the changing face of media is the biggest threat to our democracy. It is the mouthpiece of the tormented people and the light of enlightenment for many. So now it’s our call that how do we wanna deal with this media intoxication and blindfold.
